New test and other Request Forms changes for 2018

January 31, 2018 - Company News, Product News
Recently, we have received a lot of inquiries and information about tests of new markers and antibodies. We now have the pleasure and the opportunity to offer four new tests, as stated below. As some tests have become more common to offer in routine laboratories, we as a specialist laboratory have chosen to remove those tests that cannot be counted as a specialist test anymore. See the list below for removed tests from our product range.

NEW tests:

Phosphorylated neurofilament heavy chain (pNfH), test no 119

Increased phosphorylated neurofilament heavy chain (pNfH) in CSF can be found in several diseases with neuronal/axonal damage in the central nervous system and correlates with levels of neurofilament light chain (NFL). High levels have been reported in ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and in the early phase it may support the diagnosis and predict a more rapid disease progression. Analyzed in CSF.

Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor 3 (FGFR3) - antibodies, test no 047

Suspicion of inflammatory sensory neuropathy.

Metabotropic glutamate receptor 1 (mGluR1) - antibodies, test no 117

Antibodies against mGluR1 (metabotropic glutamate receptor 1) have been described for Morbus Hodgkin together with (paraneoplastic) cerebellar ataxia. It is recommended to use the test on serum.

Metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) - antibodies, test no 118

Antibodies against mGluR5 have been reported in limbic encephalitis with (or without) Hodgkin's lymphoma (Ophelia syndrome). Recognition of this disorder is important since it can affect young individuals and is reversible. It is recommended to use the test on serum.
