Investigation inflammatory system disorders, glomerulonephritis and other conditions in which complement activation is suspected.

The results are given as normal or elevated in mg/L

Reference range

<5 mg/L

In clinical studies, C3d has proven to be a useful marker for direct detection of increased C3 degradation. Elevated levels of C3d may indicate complement activation without manifesting hypocomplementemia. Safe assessment of the analysis requires:

  1. That the sample is EDTA-plasma
  2. Storage of EDTA-plasma in cold (max 24h) or frozen if storage/transport is more than 1 day
  3. Fast transport (<1 day) to the laboratory when transported at room temperature
  4. Long-term storage of EDTA-plasma at -80¬įC
