cN-1A (Mup44) Antibodies (IgG)

Sporadic inclusion body myositis (IBM)

Semi-quantitative ELISA with cytosolic 5‚Äė-nucleotidase 1A (cN-1A) as antigen.

Anti-cN-1A (Mup44) is a serological biomarker for Sporadic Inclusion body myositis (IBM).

Studies show that antibodies against the protein cytoplasmic 5'nucleotidase (CN-1A) is very characteristic (95% specificity) for IBM, even if it cannot be demonstrated in all cases (sensitivity of about 30%).
The antibodies can also be detected in SLE, Sjögren's syndrome and other inflammatory muscle disorders, but then usually in low titers.

The disease is between 2-3 times as common in men as in women and occurs almost exclusively in people who are over 50 years.
